Frequently Asked Questions
Where do the proceeds go?
The proceeds go to Children's Miracle Network. Since South Dakota High School Student Council's main cause is Children's Miracle Network, this is Dakota Valley's main fundraiser to help raise money for CMN. There will also be donation stands near the finish line for anyone who wants to donate even more to Children's Miracle Network! We always appreciate any money that you can give to support this great cause!!
Do I need to run this?
Absolutely not! Feel free to walk, run, sprint, crawl, cartwheel, or whatever! As long as you're out there enjoying yourself, we are fine with however you plan to navigate the course!
Do I have to eat the cupcakes?
Once again, nope! Eating the cupcakes at the halfway-point and finish line is completely optional! It just adds to the fun of the race! Dietary restricted runners will have cupcakes available for them throughout the course as well.
Is this race timed?
This Cupcake Fun Run is not a competitive event. However, there is a clock that starts during the Children's 1k and 5k events. This is purely for the runners who plan to look at their times if they desire to. Self-timing is suggested for those who wish to ensure an exact time.
Where can my children (1k runners) go while I run the 5k event?
They can go to the parking lot where high school volunteers will entertain them with games, activities, and art projects and play courses! Feel free to meet with them after your event is over and enjoy our post-race party!
